Teacher Substitution Policy

Teachers Accountability

Teachers pay no program fees to totalnannies.com. However they are under contract and are required to commit to the program and loss considerable benefits if they do not complete the program.

In case of incompatibility, our staff shall strive in every possible way to resolve misunderstandings.

Performance or adjustment problems which the school believes could result in alternative placement must be brought to our attention. Resolution of such issues can occur only when all parties are informed. We expect the school and the teacher to make every effort to work together and with the Post-Placement coordinator to resolve differences.

If a problem can be resolved only by removing the teacher from the school, we will make every effort to find another placement for the teacher, and another teacher for the school. In such cases, the school is expected to give the teacher 2 week's notice until a new placement is arranged. If a school is not willing to give the teacher 2 week's notice they will be expected to pay the teacher 2 weeks salary. The teacher is expected to continue to perform her/his teaching duties during this period and be paid the agreed salary during this time. A teacher should never be asked to leave without our involvement.

Whilst we do everything possible in the search and choice of a teacher, if for some reason a school is not satisfied, or if the teacher should leave, all the school has to do is to let us know within the first six weeks of arrival and we will supply the school with a substitute teacher free of charge. The substitute teacher will also be covered by this six week guarantee. If a teacher should leave after six weeks no substitute will be supplied.

We will remove a teacher from an exploitative situation such as:

  • not keeping to the conditions agreed with the teacher before placement.
  • not paying or reducing the teacher's agreed salary without the teacher agreeing to it also.
  • not allowing or reducing agreed free time.
  • increasing agreed responsibilities and duties without prior agreement on the part of the teacher or not treating the teacher appropriately.

In such circumstances the school will receive no replacement teacher.
