The reasons you shouldn’t go to a family that you have found privately are many and we have listed some of them below.

The questions you should be asking:

Who is this family? You don’t know you have never met them!

Are they a genuine family? You don’t know because they are not going through an agency

Can I be 100% sure I am not being scammed? Nope!

The family has been in good contact with me, and I am confident they are ok. We hear this all the time, most are only being really nice because they want you to commit to them, the shock is after arrival!!!!

Have they been vetted and assessed by anybody.  Nope!!

How do I know that what they are offering is going to be there when I arrive? You don’t!!

What if they don’t like me or I find I don’t like them after arrival, what can I do? Nothing, they can simply throw you out and you would have to spend money on accommodation and return travel

What if when I arrive they expect me to work more hours and what if they forget to pay me. What can I do? Nothing, you don’t have anyone to support you and you would just have to accept it or leave.

How will I meet people? If it is a real family and you have a job when you arrive, well you should be the extravert type and good luck!

Can I be sure that nothing too bad will happen? Nope

They have looked into the benefits of an agency and offered you the same conditions. So you are prepared to take the chance and accept the promise of someone you don’t even know to pay you weekly and give you the same benefits as an agency like holiday pay, a free flight etc. All we can say is good luck because if something goes wrong they are free to change their mind and you will not get anything.
